FAQs

How does the league work?

The WAGL League is made up of 10 teams, each containing four members, who bowl against a different team each week using a 24-point scoring system.

But I've never bowled before!

It doesn't matter. New bowlers are joining all the time and they are always offered a position on a team.

What if I'm not good enough?

Our handicap system gives everyone an equal chance to win points for their team, regardless of your bowling skill-level. In short... if you can swing your arm, you are good enough!

But I don't know anyone in the league...

You soon will! WAGL offers unique social opportunities. As a member of a team, you'll get to know your team-mates well. You'll meet four new people every week in your opposing team. And, you'll be invited to take part in the numerous social and fundraising events we hold throughout the year.

  I'm not really into sports!

Competition takes a back seat at WAGL. Whilst we do present prizes and trophies at the end of the season.

  How much does it cost?

Registration fees are $16 for the year. This entitles you to bowl in any league be they gay or straight. In 2010, it costs $22.00 per week to bowl, which comprises $19.20 bowling fees and $2.50 social fees & $0.30 Secretary fees. The social fee covers trophies, prizes and our glamorous end-of-year Awards Dinner (drinks included).

What if I can't attend every week?

No problem. Everyone misses a game now and then. If you can make it two weeks out of three, you're doing just fine. Alternatively, you may opt to be a 'substitute bowler' - who only plays when he/she feels like it and fills-in for an absent member of any of the league teams. Substitute bowlers do not pay the social fee.

I'm still not sure I want to join up...

Then why not try before you buy! You are always welcome to drop in for a look or catch up with friends.
